Meet JAMA USA

Anita Rajan

General Director

Anita Rajan assumed the role of General Director of JAMA USA in May 2022.  As General Director, Anita is the organization’s spokesperson in the United States. She leads JAMA’s U.S. public and government relations, including outreach to Congress, U.S. government agencies, the media and various industry stakeholders. 

Previously, Anita gained nearly twenty years of experience at Mitsubishi Motors R&D of America, Inc. (MRDA) in the government and regulatory affairs areas, and most recently served as Manager of Government Affairs within MRDA’s Government and Industry Relations Department.   

She earned a M.A. in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University, and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) focusing on International Politics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.  Anita was born and raised in New Jersey. 

Tatsuru Irinamihira

Deputy General Director

Tatsuru (Nami) Irinamihira has served as the Deputy General Director of JAMA USA since April 2026, where he oversees the U.S. branch office’s operations and provides analysis on various policy and economic developments. He is also the liaison between JAMA USA and JAMA headquarters in Tokyo.

Nami joined the JAMA in 2002 and began his career in research and statistics, focusing on the analysis and forecasting of overseas automotive markets. Since then, he has held a range of positions covering international policy affairs, regional engagement, and organizational management. He has previously served as the Deputy General Director for JAMA’s now closed Singapore Office where he oversaw trade and public relations issues and supported regional engagement efforts.

He was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan.

Jenny Kai

Senior Manager, Government and Public Affairs

Jenny A. Kai is Senior Manager for Government and Public Affairs at JAMA USA where she supports outreach and engagement with Congress, the federal government and other stakeholders and analyzes key trade policy and industry trends.

Previously, Jenny was Senior Program Officer at the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) where she researched and managed projects related to U.S.-Asia trade policy, investment, regional prosperity and women’s empowerment.

She holds an M.A. in Public Policy Analysis from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, and a B.A. in English Literature and East Asian Studies from Bates College. She was born and raised in New York City.

Alex Willis

Senior Manager, Industry and Public Affairs

Alex Willis serves as the Senior Manager of Industry Affairs at JAMA USA where he examines industry trends and analyzes important policy developments related to autonomous vehicles, vehicle safety, and vehicle energy/emissions. He is also responsible for JAMA USA’s online presence via its website and social media channels. Additionally, he is the project lead for JAMA’s U.S. annual contributions report.

Before joining JAMA, Alex worked at the Association of Global Automakers supporting the communications department and state relations team.

Alex has a B.A. in International Relations from American University, in Washington, DC. and was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana.
