Japan’s Automakers and U.S. Tool and Equipment Manufacturers to Meet Next Week in California Participants to Review 2004 Vehicle Models Enhancing Service to Customers [November 13, 2003] For Release Contact: Charley Powers 202 452 1670 Washington, D.C.—November 13, 2003—Japan's automakers and major U.S. automotive tool and equipment manufacturers will meet in Redondo Beach, California next week to review the new 2004 vehicle models. The bottom line for these annual meetings is the efficiency of automotive service and lower costs for consumers. This sixteenth annual "Japanese Technical Week," cosponsored by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA) and the Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI) will feature briefings on high-technology auto systems including direct injection engine technology, tire pressure monitoring, navigation, advanced airbags and other important technical issues. The briefings will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel November 17th through November 20th. The audience will hear presentations from JAMA, ETI and Japanese vehicle manufacturers. About 50 participants from 25 companies will attend the meetings. "Smarter vehicles improve fuel efficiency, safety and reduce emissions. As the technology expands, so does vehicle complexity requiring better systems understanding by those who provide the service. American car owners will benefit from quality service," said William C. Duncan, General Director, JAMA USA. JAMA member companies participating in the briefings include Honda, Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Suzuki and Toyota. These briefings are a continuing effort to encourage interchange and understanding between car-related industries throughout the world. The last two meetings were held in Japan. Information about JAMA and its members is available at www.jama.org. |
