Japanese Production and Investments in the U.S.

Cumulative investment surpasses $16 billion in the Japanese automakers' U.S. auto plants and auto parts manufacturing operations. Japanese production in the U.S. totaled nearly 2.4 million vehicles and more than 1.7 million engines in 1998. Japanese auto plants in the U.S. currently employ nearly 46,000 employees.
